I write stories and make pictures to blur the line between what’s real and make-believe. It is a place where magic lives, found in everyday life. My favorite stories are fairy tales that help us remember that“ anything is possible and we are on this earth to take part in adventure.”

I grew up in a rural Pennsylvania steel town on a river. We were free to roam in the wooded hills always looking for adventure. Inside we read books and colored with crayons. Reading inspired me to write down my own stories. I began with comic strips and it is still one of my favorite things to do. The early comic strips illustrated the funny things that happened, like the time we saw a water moccasin at the edge of the pond. We went around the big snake by crossing the pond in a make shift boat made of two car hoods welded together, and almost sank!

My very first job was photo re- touching. After art school I worked as a package designer, then became a furniture maker, forest service ranger, art supply sales clerk, visiting artist, official band mom and bass player for our bluegrass band, freelance illustrator, mom and pop sign-maker/t-shirt shop/gallery, graphic designer, and illustrator and author of children’s books. Our family has lived in beautiful places of mountains, rivers, oceans and wilderness that inspired many stories. We raised three kids, ran away with the circus, and built a cedar gingerbread home in the Pacific Northwest.
